Printer Administration
Intelligent scriptable rules based printing within Callisto now allows for a completely new approach to managing print costs and guarantees efficient usage of networked printers. Business rules can be specified, therefore allowing Network Administrators to choose how they would like their users to print jobs. These rules can be used to control where the print jobs are printed. For example, Network Administrators can specify that all users must print jobs with more than 10 pages to the large multifunction system, rather than the slower desktop printer.
Tracking and Reporting
With more businesses requiring print monitoring, Callisto records every document printed. The Callisto Account Manager manages user accounts and displays print job information. Reports and graphs can be easily made for printer and user activity. Custom reports can be created using the Report Designer Facility. This allows the collected data to be demonstrated in a user-defined format.
Time Saving on Print Jobs
Callisto allows large numbers of multiple copy documents to be separated into a number of whole copy jobs and directed to another print queue. This increases the speed of the printing process by increasing the print engine speed to the sum of the utilised printers. The Administrator has full control of when load balancing is triggered.
Maximise Printer Efficiency
By using SNMP, Callisto can check whether a device is available to print, rather than just able to accept print jobs. By utilising this functionality, and checking the number of pages and jobs waiting to print, Callisto can ensure that a job is printed with little delay. If a device is unavailable, Callisto will hold the job until a device becomes available and will automatically route the job to that device.
Further Printer Status Information is extracted from the printers. This information is available from the Callisto Job Manager and shows what error message is being given by the device. This enables Network Administrators to diagnose problems with devices more efficiently.
Control the Printing Environment
Callisto allows businesses to control, monitor and manage their printing environment. New and enhanced features have been applied to allow network administrators to have even greater control and management of printing. Devices are pooled into logical groups. Using predefined criteria, real-time device and workload information; Callisto can ensure that your job is printed to the most appropriate device or devices. Automatic notification means you can always know where your output has been printed.
Interacting and Notifying Users
Callisto informs users through Email, Windows Messaging or Callisto Pop-Up. Callisto Pop-Up is a client application that allows users to communicate with Callisto. This requires no client installation and is used to enable the users to monitor their current balances. The Callisto Pop Up can be configured to display various types of messages such as printer selection dialogs, information messages and confirmation dialogs.
