Teacher Training Agency

From Analogue to Digital

TEACHER TRAINING AGENCY

The TTA was using 60 pages per minute analogue copiers which, because of their age, were limited in the level of functionality they could provide. The TTA wanted a product which could not only copy, but also print and scan at speed. We undertook a print audit across the department to identify what volumes of printed and copied documents were produced by each of the existing machines. Based on these findings we suggested that the Sharp AR-507 would be a perfect solution.

The new AR series is able to communicate pro-actively with the network administrator through e-mailed diagnostic reports which can be dispatched to a maximum of three different nominated address lists. The e-mail provides advance warning when an action is required, for example that the copier printer requires servicing, or provides information on a specific problem such as ‘paper out’.
The web-based configuration enables an administrator to configure the e-mail and status reports remotely and network settings through a web browser. The printing option includes Status Monitor which informs a user of the current state of the printer and sends messages providing information such as ‘job finished’, ‘paper jam’, ‘toner low’ and ‘paper out’.

London Borough of Brent

Reducing Costs

LONDON BOROUGH OF BRENT CHILDRENS SOCIAL SERVICE

This department within a large council had five Canon 50 cpm high volume copying devices. They found the equipment to be problematic during long copy runs. Their service provider would respond within 1-2 days, sometimes having to wait for parts to be ordered and fitted.

The council went out to market and considered the Canon Digital range and other manufacturers and suppliers. After analysing the options available, they upgraded to First Class Business Solutions and our recommendation of the Sharp Digital Range.

Our proposal immediately saved the Council thousands of pounds on the lease and service costs, whilst increasing the quality of print, up time of the copies and improving productivity and functionality.

The Council have decided to stay with FCBS for the next five years and using our unique finance solutions have added additional equipment including colour reprographic equipment and changed to the new Sharp range, adding network printing.

Our average response to emergency call outs is approximately 2 hours, 49 minutes. Some parts are also kept on site, resulting in minimal disruption to the council’s day to day activities.

“ I would recommend FCBS to anyone considering changing their copiers. Their proposals always make sense financially and practically. Machine reliability is important to us due to our very high usage and FCBS give us exceptional service all the way through their organisation. ”

Replace stand-alone photocopiers and desktop printers with powerful multifunctional devices; workgroup machines that scan, copy and print at high speed. The second was to replace line printers running preprinted stationery with high-speed page printers running locally generated forms.

Standalone copiers and desktop printers were quickly replaced with state-of-the art Sharp multifunction devices. By migrating print away from expensive desktop printers to multifunction devices with much lower running cost, Saywell International did not just save money, they were able to dramatically improve their document workflow.
